ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Chris Abbott is a writer and consultant on international security and foreign affairs. His research interests include non-traditional security threats, alternative global security strategies and the security implications of climate change.
He is the founder and Executive Director of Open Briefing, the civil society intelligence agency. He is also is an Honorary Visiting Research Fellow in the Department of Peace Studies at the University of Bradford and holds the honorary position of Sustainable Security Consultant to Oxford Research Group (ORG), a leading global security think tank of which he was the Deputy Director until June 2009.
Chris is a member of the advisory council for the Climate Institute, Bangalore, and the international advisory board for ORG's sustainable security programme (a programme he initiated in 2006). Throughout 2008 he was an Honorary Research Fellow in the Centre for Governance and International Affairs at the University of Bristol.
His first book, Beyond Terror: The Truth About the Real Threats to Our World, co-authored with Paul Rogers and John Sloboda, was published by Rider in 2007 to worldwide acclaim and is now available in six languages.
Chris has a degree in Psychology from Royal Holloway, University of London, and a Masters in Social Anthropology from the University of St Andrews. He lives in West Cornwall with his fiancée and their dog.
